Ahmedabad, 1 October 2011
This is summary on Gujarat Congress’s rally in Palanpur yesterday. The rally was second campaign rally after earlier Kutch rally.
-The rally was organized in Gujarat’s northern most Banaskantha district’s head quarter Palanpur.
-Palanpur is represented in assembly by BJP, however in parliament it is represented by Congress for last two terms.
-Good number of people gathered at the rally. However most of them were from Congress party’s inner circle. The crowd was not unexpectedly huge, but not very much dull too.
-Congress party leaders in Gujarat continue to be obsessed with Narendra Modi. Most parts of the speeches are dominated by Modi bashing. It seems like anti-publicity kind of publicity of Modi. However Shankersinh Vaghela’s re-entry in mainstream politics of Gujarat has invited a small shift. Now the leaders also promise the things that they would deliver if come to power. Shankersinh beleives that Gujarat election will arrive earlier than scheduled date of December, 2011. Vaghela had announced that he would start poll campaign from Kutch. Accordingly he along with other Gujarat Congress leaders addressed a rally in Kutch. This rally at Palanpur was the second one in this series.
-Large hoardings of farmers with their hands tied (hathkadi) were erected all over the place. This was in reference to Modi government’s strict actions against farmers involved in power theft.
-Vaghela admitted that Congress might have committed some mistakes due to which people of Banaskantha did not vote for the party despite supporting it.
